Harvester Insurance

A harvester is one of the most valuable machines on any farm, and it earns its keep in a short, intense window each season. When a header is down mid-harvest, every day off the paddock costs you. Machine Cover, a brand of Stonewell Insurance, arranges harvester insurance that can protect the machine, your liability and your income across grain, cane, cotton and forage operations. We compare policies from multiple insurers so you can match cover to how hard you run through the season.

Cover

What harvesters need covered

Public and product liability

Harvesters move between paddocks, along public roads and near neighbouring crops and fences. Public liability cover can respond if your machine causes injury to someone else or damages third party property while you are working or in transit. This is often required before you take on contract harvesting work.

Accidental damage and theft

Cover can respond if the harvester is damaged by an accident, rollover on sloping ground, impact or storm, and if it is stolen from a shed, yard or paddock. Given the high replacement value of a modern header, this is usually the core reason operators insure the machine itself.

Fire damage

Harvesting in hot, dry conditions carries real fire risk, from bearing failures, exhaust heat and dust build up igniting standing or stubble crop. Cover can respond to fire damage to the harvester, which is one of the more common and costly claims in the grain and cane sectors.

Machinery breakdown

Headers are complex machines with drums, sieves, augers and hydraulics under heavy load. Machinery breakdown cover can help with sudden mechanical or electrical failure, which matters most when a remote breakdown leaves you waiting on parts in the middle of the season.

Fronts and attachments

Comb fronts, draper fronts, pick up fronts and other interchangeable headers are expensive in their own right. Cover can be extended to these attachments whether they are fitted to the machine or in storage between jobs.

Downtime and business interruption

When a harvester stops during a narrow harvest window, the lost contract income and delayed crop can hurt more than the repair bill. Business interruption cover can help replace income or cover a hired replacement machine while yours is out of action.

Cover, limits and examples shown are general in nature and subject to eligibility, underwriting and the terms of the issued policy.
